The property is perfectly located to explore the whole island, driving, walking or cycling. It is set in a quiet deserted hamlet. Our guests delight in the nature and breath taking views over the pool, they also enjoy the proximity to Corfu town a world heritage UNESCO site. There are beautiful beaches within 15 minutes drive.

Corfu town is nestled between the two fortresses,  the centre of which is Saint Spyridon cathedral the protector of the island. If you visit this church and light a candle  you can soak up the local spirituality. Local deliciacies from the bakeries are fogatsa, loukoumades and kumquat cake.  For a late lunch try out the spicier traditional dishes of bourdeto, tsigarelli and pastitiada. Sofrito and bianco are also tasty but not spicy.  St Spyridon feast day is celebrated on the 12th December which is a local bank holiday.  The old walled town  was built by the Venetians , explore the alleyways on foot. A pleasant break and a drink can be had under the arches of Liston built by the French.

The three closest, soft sandy beaches are on the west coast, Agios Giordis, Kontogialos and Glyfada. Beaches further afield are Issos backing onto sand dunes, Halikounas beach is a narrow windy beach backing onto a lagoon and Kardaki beach close to the town  is accessed through the mon repos palace gardens.

The village of Kalafationes up the hill has a taverna and kafeneio owned by Mrs Dina. She sells basic necessities, eg milk, bread and also drinks. On the way up the village council  provides a public football pitch and basketball court.

For those who appreciate views there are viewpoints  towards the outlying islands from Afionas. Sunset from Kaisers Wilhelm II throne at Pelekas and breath taking turquoise waters, cliffs and caves from Lakones viewpoint.

Nature lovers won't be disappointed.
The central part of the Corfu trail, a walking route from the north of the island to the southernmost tip is close by. Local walks through the forest and olive groves are highly recommended. The woods are inhabited by many species of birds, barn owls, hawks and collared doves to name a few. In the chestnut woods below the village there is a horse riding stable called Silvaland that runs summer camps, riding lessons and trips through the forest. In the south the Lefkimmi salt flats (Alykes) are home to over 180 bird species including flamingoes.
